Rainbow Pride Cozies

In my purse, I always carry at least three coffee cup sleeves. And it’s a pretty good bet that at least one of them is going to be themed to one of the LGBT+ pride flag colors.

This is one of the crochet patterns I have made the most in my years of crocheting, especially because I give the LGBT+ pride cozies away rather liberally after. But I want to share the pattern here so that anyone can make their own.

Although the basic pattern is the same for all the cozies, I’ll write each flag’s cozy pattern separately as though it were a different pattern to make it easier to follow.

For this post, I’ll be including the cozy pattern for the three historical rainbow pride flags (1978, 1978-79, 1979, 2017).

((Note: When I start any instructions down below, I will begin with US English instructions and put the UK English instructions after.))

Materials

Materials:

6.5mm hook (US-K/10.5; UK/Canada-3)
medium weight yarn (worsted weight in US; Aran yarn in UK; 10-ply in Australia)

Yarns I Used:

1. Lavender: Red Heart Super Saver in lavender -or- Caron Simply Soft in lavender blue
2. Pink: Red Heart Super Saver in perfect pink -or- in light raspberry
3. Red: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in cranberry -or- Red Heart Soft Yarn in wine
4. Orange: Red Heart Soft Yarn in tangerine
5. Yellow: Caron One Pound in sunflower -or- Big Twist Yarns Value in gold
6. Green: Loops and Threads Impeccable in kelly green
7. Light Blue: Red Heart Super Saver in light blue -or- Caron One Pound in blue grotto
8. Blue: Big Twist Sincerely in royal blue
9. Purple: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in eggplant -or- Red Heart Super Saver in dark orchid

Notes and Abbreviations

Notes:

Numbers at the end of the instructions: In brackets “[ ]” will be the total stitch count for that round.
The first chain in each row/round does not count as your first stitch, so don’t skip your first stitch.
The cozies will have 13, 14, 15, or 17 rounds, depending on the color sequence for the specific LGBT flag.
An increase (inc) in this pattern means 2 stitches done in one stitch.
