Fast and Simple Crochet Beanie Pattern
It’s cold! At least it is for me lately. This was all the excuse I needed to pull out my Fast and Simple crochet beanie pattern and whip up a couple new ones.
This is not a challenging pattern to make, and with the consistent increases, it’s easy to keep track of the stitch count. With just a little adjustment, you can customize the size of each beanie you make.
Grab your hook, and let’s start!
((Note: When I start any instructions down below, I will begin with US English instructions and put the UK English instructions after.))

Materials
Materials:
5.5mm hook (US-I/9; UK/Canada-5)
medium weight yarn (worsted weight in US; Aran yarn in UK; 10-ply in Australia)
Yarns I’ve Used:
Lion Brand Yarn Heartland in black canyons
Lion Brand Yarn Heartland in canyonlands
Lion Brand Yarn Heartland in rocky mountains

- This pattern is worked in rounds, from the center out.
- Each row is worked in the same direction; you will NOT have to turn at the beginning of each row.

Size:
The crochet beanie pattern below will be writing for a large beanie, but you can add or take out increase rounds to make the beanie the desired size.
- Small fits a child: Instead of using the DC (TR) stitch, you will use a HDC (HTR) stitch. Do your increase rounds until step 5. That step is the one that has the instructions to “DC (TR) 2 in one st then DC (TR) 1 in each of the next 3 sts”, but remember to do HDC (HTR) instead of DCs (TRs).
- Medium fits a teen or most women: For a medium size beanie, do increase rounds until step 5, but be sure you’re using DCs (TRs).
- Large fits women and most men: For a large size beanie, do increase rounds until step 6, but be sure you’re using DCs (TRs).
- Anything larger: For any larger size beanie, do more increase rounds, adding one increase with however many stitches needed. For example, if you need one more increase round, do 2 DC (TR) in one st then DC (TR) 1 in each of the next 5 sts.
Consider hair type and other needs when making this for someone. I, for example, can use a medium regularly, but sometimes I use a large when my hair is curled or just a bit fluffier or when a migraine can make even a simple beanie feel like too much pressure. A large fits my husband, with his straight hair, comfortably.
